As of May 1, 2012 the minimum wage set by the provincial government in British Columbia will be raised to $10.25 per hour and the deduction for Room and Board will remain at the same level – $325.00 per month. This raise planned and published in 2011 by the B.C., Government was to keep our province in line with other provinces rates.
For the standard working week of 40 hours, caregivers will be paid at the rate of $820.00 gross on a bi-weekly basis. After the deductions of taxes and the Room and Board charges ($150.00 bi-weekly), the net income expected will stand at $568.00. This income level will remain till the end of December 2012 unless the Federal Government will revise its Tax Tables before the end of this year.
