hello
I'm wondering if anyone could give me some info. We are wanting to hire a nanny part time. We were thinking of a live in position and leading to full time in the future.
How much (approx) do you pay a live in nanny? what is provided for them (We were thinking food, laundry, internet, phone and their own room of course).
Would love to hear from others who have a live in nanny - how is it working for you? how are things arranged in your situation? would love some more ideas as this would be
the first time doing this so I'm not sure where to start. any advice would be very helpful. thank you.

I've had many nannies for the past ten years and from my experience I can tell you for sure that you cannot hire a live-in nanny under the live-in caregiver program as a live-out. You can hire a nanny live-out part-time but most of live-out nannies have their own place and they are not that flexible.

The salary for a live-in nanny can be as low as minimum wage:$8.00/hr. You have to provide them with private bedroom and food (whatever the family eats). The law doesn't say anything about internet, phone or TV.
If you need more info you can email me. I will be very glad to help you. Smiley

it is better to hire live in caregiver overseas than to hire localy, coz overseas are more flexible patient than those who are already here, this is my observation.

Hi Larnie,

You mean that local live-in have no patience? In other words as long as the caregivers are abroad they are patient and flexible and once they arrive in Canada they are different? I don't agree with you. Those who are good caregivers and patient will stay like that regardless where they work. Those who are picky and demanding will have the same attitude outside or in Canada. Cheers,

A live-in caregiver from British Columbia Cool
