Hi, nice to be in this forum.

I am currently working here in Dubai as Admin Assistant.  It's been my dream to go to Canada. However, due to financial reason, I have put aside the dream.  But now, I can say I am ready to pursue my intention to go to Canada. The question is....am I eligible to apply as caregiver or nanny to Canada from Dubai given the fact that I am here working as Admin Asst?

To give you a brief of my qualifications, I took up Caregiving course year 2003 when I was in the Philippines. I am mature and independent with over twelve years of professional experience. Before coming to Dubai, I was a working mother back in the Philippines while I literally raised 6 wonderful children.  3 of which are my own and 3 from the previous marriage of my husband. I am proud to say that all 6 of my kids have grown to be happy persons and are continuing to grow with values. I believe that education starts at home. I make it a point that I study and learn with my kids. I may be away for now, but the quality time we spend over the phone and internet communicating compensates for my physical absence.

What I can offer to my prospective employer is my professional and domestic experience.  I can be a nanny or a household manager while educating their kids. Aside from my non-formal care giving course, I had a short course in a call center for English 101.

I would also like to mention that I took care of my mother when she was still alive and bedridden due to lung cancer. I stood as the nurse' assistant taking vital signs and administering medicines.

Please do let me know if I stand a chance of being considered as a nanny or caregiver.

Thank you in advance for your comments, whether negative or positive.....and also for reading my novel!!!!!  Smiley

Dear Mommy,

After reviewing your post I would like to advise you of the following:
1. As far as immigration Canada is concerned you can qualify for the Live-in Caregiver Program as long as you have attended a minimum of 2 years in college
2. Unfortunately, your experience of raising your own children is not reviewed as "work experience'. Therefore, it doesn't tempt any prospective employer to offer you a childcare position.
3. Although your managerial experience is good, however, these skilled are not required for Live-in housekeeper job
4. Processing your application with the Canadian embassy in Dubai takes approximately 12 months to complete providing you have already an offer of employment. In general employers cannot wait that long for the nanny to come to Canada.

Having said all the above it is not impossible for you to fulfill your dream if you are willing to take the chance. You may sent the complete file to an agency, keep the faith and it may turn right for you.

Hello Admin,

Thanks for your very helpful reply.

Can you recommend an agency/agencies that can help me process or fullfil my dreams?  The one that is legal and can really help me or tell me honestly my stance in going to Canada.

I've taken this assessment test with CANEMP.  Ever heard of this agency?  They said that I am eligible under Federal Skilled Worker but with arranged employment. Further, they said that they will look for an employer for me...a position that will match my experience (office work).  Is an office work really possible in Canada when you are applying from a different country?

I have a sister in Toronto, Canada and she's been living there for 5 years with her husband.  Both of them are working as an Engineer and are now a permanent residents of Canada.  She tried to help me before and have paid the initial fee but the contact just dissappeared.

Please help me or let me know if I really qualify as FSW.  I would appreciate it very much if you could refer me to any agency/agencies.

Thanks and God bless!

Hello,

The only chance to come to Canada is as a caregiver providing you have a minimum of 2 years college education in Philippines. However, the procedure to obtain a working visa at the Canadian embassy in Dubai takes a minimum of 18 months to complete. Unfortunately, no employer is willing to wait that long to obtain the services of a foreign nanny. Your only chance in this case is if your sister, providing she has children, will apply for you and will be willing to wait for the time required to obtain the visa.
I hope that will help.
