Dear Sir/Madam,

Greetings!

We are from the Philippines and my wife is in the process of applying as live in care giver there in Canada. Once admitted she will be obtaining temporary work visa. We are also aware that immediate dependents could go with her once she makes it there.

My question is, how long (total years) will it take before our children (ages 5 and 3) and the spouse to follow her there in Canada when she only has temporary live in care giver visa.

I will greatly appreciate your response to my query. Thanks in advance!

Respectfully yours,

Mr. Ferds

Hello Mr. Ferds,

After completing 2 full years working as a live-in caregiver, your wife will be eligible to apply for a Permanent Resident status in Canada. Processing her application will take about a year and if accepted she will be able to apply for you and the children to come and join her in Canada providing she has sufficient financial ability to support you and the children.
Generally speaking will take 5 years from her day of departure from the Philippines until you and your children can join her in Canada.
I hope this will answer your question.
If you have any other questions just posted on the forum and I will try to answer as soon as possible.

Thanks so much for replying and I really appreciate it!

But is there any other way once my wife applies for PR status in 2 years time that our kids would follow her there in Canada faster? You see, presently, I also work in the Middle east and I am away from my family.  If my wife makes it there, we would not be able to take care of our kids as we are both away from them.

As for me it would be no problem since I can wait while i am still abroad.  But then if our kids could follow my wife earlier than 5 years that would be better.

Thanks again and hoping for your kind reply again!

Respectfully,

Mr. Ferds

Hi Mr. Ferds,

After applying for Permanent Residence it takes time till Canadian Embassy in Philippines will ask your children to pass a medical exam, then you will be asked to pass a medical exam and Police clearance for the countries that you've been lived in for the past 10 years. Then the results will be processed by the Embassy and if you're lucky will take two years or less after she applied for Permanent Residence to obtain the proper documents in order to enter Canada.
If your children live in Manila probably will take less time. If you live in on a secluded island  will take longer for the Embassy to get ahold of your family.

If you have any questions feel free to post them on the forum and I will try to reply as soon as possible.

Thank you very much for replying to my queries.

May I ask now, what are my possible options for coming to Canada? Can I also apply for immigrant visa? I am presently working as a company doctor here in the middle east and I have been a doctor for 14 years now. From what I know from other sources, doctors are also in demand in Canada.  So how could I go through this?

Thanks again for finding time answering my questions.

I understand that you are working in middle east. Can you tell me where exactly are you right now?

If you do have experience you can immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker. Click here for more information http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp.
