  • Like it or not, you will first be judged on how you look. Don't display inappropriate clothes, hair, makeup, or jewelry. The family needs a mature person to take care of their kids and not another child.
  • Show up on time. If you cannot make it for the interview let the family know.
Don't call the employer to ask for directions. Call Translink instead.
  • Be friendly and open. Smile, have a positive look, and be willing to listen. Don't interrupt.
  • Ask questions about the duties, hours of work, expected daily schedule, how much decision making is expected of you as regards both children and household, what type of discipline is expected and how much say you'll have in it, salary and benefits, etc.
  • Show interest in learning; be enthusiastic about being there and courteous to everyone.
  • Be proud about your skills and abilities. Show confidence.
And don't forget to smile  Smiley
Good Luck!
